Civics in Action – Naturalization Ceremony

Earlier this month, I had the distinct honor, and privilege to host and speak at a Naturalization Ceremony. A Naturalization Ceremony is the final step in the citizenship process, where individuals take their Oath of Allegiance to the United States, denounce their foreign nation, and pledge to take up arms for our country when required by law. I sought out the opportunity to host such a ceremony as an opportunity to have over a hundred of my American Government Students witness civics in action. During the ceremony, I reminded all in attendance, including our newest compatriots, that “America is a Nation built not on bloodlines or royalty, but on a shared belief in liberty, justice, the rule of law, and the idea that everyone can live their own version of the American Dream”, and encouraged them to pursue the promise of civic responsibility.

You can read more about this ceremony from the Broadview Journal, or view photos below.
