Who is Jonah T. Pichette?
About me.
Hi!
My name is Jonah T. Pichette, thank you for checking out my website/blog about the city we both know and love. Having spent time in both our formative and teen years visiting Twinsburg, my wife Colleen and I moved here because we knew it would be our forever home, and the city in which we would raise our kids, as well as grow old in. One day, I decided that I wanted to share my love for this city here and share all the fun things I am doing to just make my little corner of the world a little bit of a better place.
Professionally, I am a dedicated educator. Currently I am teaching a subject of great passion, American Government. One proud bit of information I always like to share with individuals when I tell them I teach this course is what I use for my textbook. When I inherited the Government courses from a retiring educator, I opted to utilize the United States Constitution and the State of Ohio Constitution as my textbooks and give every student a pocket U.S. Constitution that they can keep during and after our course together. In my mind, how could one accurately teach the principles spelled out by our founding fathers without working through the U.S. Constitution? In doing so, we start our analysis of the Constitution at the Preamble, and end at the Bill of Rights with so much more included. In addition to Government, I teach World History and Psychology, also subjects of great interest to me.
Aside from educating the students of the future, I am passionate about our parks, forests and the environment itself. I currently serve on the Environmental Commission for the City of Twinsburg, and was appointed as the Chairman of the Commission in February of 2024. As a member of the Environmental Commission, I led discussions during the 2023 year on the implementation of a community environmental awards program to help recognize our good neighbors, good businesses, students of the future, and friends of the commission in the work they do that is relevant to the commission’s purpose itself. I was very excited to see that when City Council took steps to amended the purposes of the Environmental Commission to align it more closely with other commissions in Ordinance 121-2023, it spelled out the that environmental awards are something to be included in the commissions purpose moving forward.
If you ever see me around the city, please stop me and say “hello”. I love meeting new people and believe that whether it’s our love of Liberty Park, appreciation for the Cleveland Browns, food and restaurants, historic topics, etc… when neighbors get talking, we will often find out that we have more in common than we have in difference.
