Every year in the City of Twinsburg, the Rotary Club hosts a “River Run” that goes through Tinkers Creek. This was the seventh year in which they have done such event, and my first time participating.
My wife and I are so glad we did! It was genuinely a blast. Although as we were talking with some of the volunteers, this year apparently was more of a creek walk than anything else as the water level was much lower due to the recent lack of rain. We still found a way to make the most of it.
Check-in took place at the Moraine Park ballfields, where you were then shuttled by a CERT Team volunteer to the Center Valley Park parking lot and would get into Tinkers Creek. You’d kayak until back to Moraine Park. All-in-all it took about 30 minutes kayaking, and walking our kayak through the low spots in the water to make it back.
What was most exciting for me, was to see the sense of community created by an event like. I met so many new friends and neighbors, and really just had a great time. My wife remarked as we were floating down Tinkers Creek that it looked so cool she barely felt like we were a mile away from our home. Scroll through the pictures below and I think you will agree!
A big thank you has to go out to the Rotary Club volunteers, and the CERT team volunteers who make events in our community like this possible. It really is what makes Twinsburg a great place to live.
