Warm Welcome to Twinbsurg
About the Program
When my wife Colleen and I moved to the City of Twinsburg, we did so knowing this would be our forever city/home. The one we would raise our children in, and grow old together in.
I was however, shocked at how much kindness we received from our neighbors when we first moved here. On the day we received our keys, and drove to our new home in our forever city, we walked around the outside where a few of our neighbors were outdoors talking with each other and they waved us over to say “hi”. They introduced themselves, gave us a brief run-down of what we need to know about the city, and presented us with the obligatory midwestern nice “if you ever need anything, or need to ever borrow any tools, like leaf-blowers, mowers, snowplows, whatever, let us know”… except, they really meant it. That first fall my neighbor came to the rescue with his backpack blower to save me from having to rake all of the leaves in the yard.
The amount of love, care and kindness we received from our neighbors was something we could not have predicted. We felt so welcomed, as if we had lived here our entire life. I began to wonder if others who had moved to the City also experienced the same sense of warmth as we did. It did not take long for me to realize that it is unlikely everyone else did. To me, that was not fair.
I decided to reach out to my friend Lucy Loper at Howard Hanna Realty to create a “Warm Welcome to Twinsburg” program. Where every new resident receives a personal welcome letter sent from me. I do this to help welcome them to the City of Twinsburg. I also remind them they at the very least they have me to call a friend in their new city.
Our Friend in the Program
It needs to be said that this program would not be possible without the help of Lucy Loper, our friend at Howard Hanna Realty. Lucy’s dedication to helping people find happiness in their homes made her a perfect individual to partner with, and she has done so, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for new residents to our city, without asking for anything in return.
I look forward to continuing our collaboration with Lucy and further enhancing the welcoming experience for future residents.
