On April 25th, the second annual Earth Day Community Event was held. This was the first year it was put on entirely by our Commission, and I am incredibly thankful for my fellow Environmental Commission members for helping to plan the event. I have spent some time thinking back on how this event has grown and changed over the years into the new event it is now. When I first started on the Commission, we held an “Earth Day” event at Liberty Park Nature center, and would spend four hours outdoors to have maybe 10 people visit us. This year, well, this year was certainly very different – In our two hour event, I would estimate 100 community members were able to interact with a number of vendors, and learn more about the impact they can make in the environment.

A special thank you must go out to all of the vendors, participants, and community members for making it such a special day. Vendors including the Summit Metro Parks, Twinsburg Garden Club, Twinsburg Native Habitat Association, Tinker’s Creek Watershed Partners, Mrs. Kurt and her THS students, Twinsburg Parks and Recreation Department/Commission, The Girl Scouts, Beekeeper Kathy Ouma, and Journey Church.

I am already looking forward to a successful 2027 Earth Day Community event, and seeing how we can make it a better event for all members of the community!
